Cyricx & Viollca, LLC

FreeLance - Web Developer 6/2008 to Present

This company is co-owned by my wife and me. We use it for running our performance group as Tricks of the Light, and for my freelance web development. Due to my passion for development, I tend to keep a lot of pans on the fire and have a constant stream of freelance projects to play work on and enjoy.

Fulltime - Sr. Software Engineer 6/2015 to present

FreightQuote is a great company to work for. The have a diverse software set including classic ASP, ASP.Net Webforms, ASP.Net MVC, Web API, SQL, MongoDb, Node.js, Angular, etc! This works out well for me as a fullstack developer. It gives me a lot of opportunties to explore and flex all my programming muscle!

Bradford & Galt

Contract - Sr. Application Developer 3/2015 to 6/2015

Bradford & Galt contracted me to work at FreightQuote on a 6 month contract to hire. This gave me an excellent opportunity to learn the MEAN Stack (MongoDb, Express, Angular, Node), while still maintaining plenty of practice with SQL and the .Net Framework. After working just 3 months of the contract, I was given an offer to convert.

Centriq Training

Fulltime - .Net Trainer 10/2012 to 3/2015

Centriq focuses on both training individuals to enter the technology industry, and continued training for the current workforce. Their career track program runs for 4 intense months. I've enjoyed training many great people to enter the technology field. At Centriq, I'm able to make a positive difference in other people's lives. It benefits me as well, by helping me to think outside the box, describe code in a real world fashion, and be able to quickly isolate bugs. Teaching students has exposed me to an incredible variety of errors, bugs, and issues, as well as to the method of solving these issues, that I never would have discovered by myself.

CST Industries

Fulltime - Web Developer 3/2012 to 10/2012

CST Industries was a great company to work for. I've continued my business relationship with CST, which has enabled me to continue to help out on large applications, as a freelance web developer. While a fulltime employee I worked on their website, which had been built with the Ektron CMS system (which in turn is built on top of .NET Webforms). Ektron relies on XML and XSLT. I heavily optimized their site, reducing the 300 page site down to 20 pages. I reduced their load time by over 50%, improved their SEO, and optimized the UX. I also built a full Channel Partner section for CST.

WMS Gaming

Fulltime - Customer Order Administrator 11/2001 to 11/2011

At WMS Gaming I performed data entry, which I did not find to be a challenging career. This led me to challenge myself to learn PHP on my own time. During my 10 years with the company, there were four layoffs. On the fourth layoff, 30% of their workforce, including my entire department, was voted off the island. This lead me to pursue education at Centriq to turn my PHP hobby into a .NET career. I still keep in touch with many of my friends at WMS Gaming, and while the layoff was scary at the time, it turned out to be one of the greatest things to happen to me.
